Who is a good candidate for Lumecca treatment?
Lumecca IPL treatment is an excellent choice for those seeking a non-surgical method to enhance their skin’s appearance. For optimal results, it is crucial that the skin being treated is free of tan, whether natural or artificial, as the device targets pigment and can cause issues with tanned skin. We recommend avoiding all forms of tanning for at least four weeks before and after the treatment.

Before Your Treatment
Before your treatment, we will review some pre-appointment guidelines to help achieve the best results. Your skin must be free of any tan, whether natural or artificial, for up to 4 weeks before your treatment. We also recommend avoiding harsh exfoliating treatments and potent active ingredients, such as retinoids and exfoliants, for 2-3 days prior. For best results, please arrive without make-up on your skin. On the day of your treatment or 24-48 hours prior for darker skin tones, we may perform a patch test of the IPL on your skin.
During Your Treatment
We start by thoroughly cleansing your skin and applying a clear gel to ensure proper conduction of the IPL to the skin. You will be provided with blackout goggles to protect your eyes from the intense light. The device will be applied to the targeted areas, and we will monitor for the necessary changes while ensuring your comfort—most people experience little to no pain. Afterwards, we will remove excess gel and apply a moisturiser and sunscreen to safeguard your skin. It’s normal for the skin to appear slightly redder than usual or for pigmented areas to look temporarily darker.
After Your Treatment
The downtime following Lumecca treatment is minimal. In the days after your session, you might notice the pigmentation darkening and, in some cases, crusting as the pigment rises to the surface. Minor bruises may also appear where thread veins have been treated. These side effects are temporary and should resolve within a few days. To achieve the best results, protecting your skin from the sun for the weeks following the treatment is essential.
